Stupid Cupid

The first day I had seen Amanda at my high school had been magical. I had instantly fallen in love with her. I remembered telling my friend Jason how I felt about her and he had asked me a question.

He said.. “What exactly do you like about her?”

I had pondered on that question for like a minute and then I realized, it was everything. That was how madly in love I was.

We were in our Twelfth grade and would be writing our final exams soon so I decided to man up and get this girl, I just needed to wait for the right moment to present itself.

I didn't have to wait long though. Cupid must have been in a hurry as the right moment presented itself. A friend of ours had this little birthday party going on at his place and we were both invited. Jason and I got to the party a little bit early, I needed to be one with the environment because I knew this was where I was going to approach the love of my life.

Thirty minutes later, I watched her walk in and then about twenty minutes later, after I had my morale boosted by Jason my right hand man, I walked up to her. Two days after that night, we both started dating. Turned out she too was into me.

I felt like the happiest and luckiest dude on the planet. But then, like I said in the beginning, stupid Cupid did forget to shoot one of them arrows at her.

After our final exams, we could no longer meet in school and we also couldn't meet at our places because of our parents, so we occasional went out to see each other or we spoke on the phone. It was on one of those phone calls that I noticed something wasn't right with the way she was responding to me, like I couldn't feel the affection in her voice no more. So I told her about it but she quickly pushed it aside telling me everything was okay with her. But few minutes after we both ended the call, I got a text from her telling me she had a boyfriend before she met me but they both had an issue and then I came into the picture. I was her rebound but now they were back together.

The love of my life broke up with me through a text message.
