Fresh Vegetable, from Garden
Greetings everyone
Since, we are stuck at lock down, there is hardly any outdoor tasks that anybody can do at this period. But luckily we have a small garden and once in a while my family members goes out for fresh and some to do work to perform.
While yesterday, I got some fresh vegetables and they were cooked in our house. Well, the dish that was cooked I am not really a big fan of it, neither did I have it as well. Honestly, I do not like this vegetable that much. As i said in my previous blog, I am really very much choosy when it comes to food and especially vegetables. But this is far better than the ones that we get from our local market.
Malabar Spinach/ Basella Alba/ পুঁই শাক
It was not really that much, even for a single meal but it kind of feels nice when you are picking up your own vegetable from the garden with your hand, it feels little different and exciting at the same time. Probably, I am exaggerating but it's a nice experience indeed!
It is a perennial vine also considered as herb. Basella Alba is also typically used in Chinese medicine, where it is used for its action of lowering fever or neutralizing poison.
My mother was saying the other day, she would have planted much more plants but at thsi current situation and space this is how far she could manage. But hopefully in the coming days we might enlarge it a little bit more.
The next in line is the Red Spinach/lal shak. They are growing slowly and I am a fan of lal shakh dishes (especially pakora of it). While it might be on next week though. I am indeed looking forward to that.
Under a normal circumstances, I would have probably never really give a proper look at this plants but situation makes people to do certain things, which they were never really meant to. But it's nice to get out of house once in a while. As I am hardly getting our of my house for the Time being (unless, there is an absolute necessity). So, that's it everyone, stay safe and be healthy!
