Both the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circuses got their start in Wisconsin, and The Circus World Museum in Baraboo collects and displays artifacts and other materials from circuses around the world

This photo of a wood carving of a FISH decorates the side of one of the VINTAGE Circus Wagons on display.

Pretty Good Info!
Having grown up (till 16) on the New Jersey shore, more or less - I was "Sure" Ringling Brothers started between there and New York City!
No idea they started in Wisconsin!

1884 in Wisconsin. The Ringling 'mansion' is near downtown Baraboo and AL Ringling built the fabulously ornate theater on the square across from the courthouse.

That's one fancy wagon. There just isn't anything quite like that around these days. It's a bit surprising nobody has taken an RV apart and rebuilt it like that.

If you and your camera ever have the opportunity to go to the circus museum in Baraboo it is well worth a visit! So is a tour of the Ringling theater on the square downtown.
