2021 is a huge year for the crypto communities across the world. DeFi hype, NFT hype, Bitcoin ATH and so on. But we don't see crypto business in the physical world.

With the global pandemic and lockdowns, most of us learned to spend the majority of our time at home. Thanks to technology developments empowering remote work and remote education. However, it would be nice to see things like Bitcoin ATM and Bitcoin accepted here signs in the physical world for any crypto citizen.

According to data acquired by Finbold, As of January 1, 2021, there were 14,040 Bitcoin ATMs in operation; as of Tuesday, December 28, 2021, there are 33,850 ATMs in action, representing an increase of 19,110 ATMs, according to statistics provided by Coin ATM Radar.

Crypto Question #0

When did last use a Bitcoin ATM and where?

My answer: I first used Bitcoin ATM in London, UK in 2018 and I even wrote a post with Steem with a video on Dlive.

We're heading into 2022 and I wanted to try to change my content creation style with Crypto Question with #AskLeo initiative by @acesontop. Also, I'm thinking of running a 30 days content creation challenge with LeoFinance from January.

I have not used Bitcoin ATM yet. How did you feel when you used a Bitcoin ATM for the first time?

I have never used a bitcoin ATM, but I've seen them on occasion. In fact, the hotel that I am going to tomorrow has one in the lobby.

I was using it a year ago, 20 kilometers from me. But they canceled it because they were using Bitcoin Embassy (casino) and this is illegal in Poland and police close it xD

I have never used one before, but I know there is one in the party store down the road from the house where I used to live. I was in there a while ago and noticed they had a cryptocurrency vending machine.

At least you came across one :)

I can't wait to use a cryptocurrency vending machine!

Walmart, the leading retailer in the United States, has partnered with coin-cashing machine company Coinstar and crypto-cash exchange CoinMe as it enters the cryptocurrency space. The retailer has installed 200 Bitcoin ATMs at its various locations across the United States.

I'm sure you will see one in your local Walmart soon!

Someone shared a website with me a long time ago where it shows you the location of every machine on a map. You could easily find which one was closest to you. If there is one.

I actually don't have to. I can earn crypto with Hive, I have some that I bought years ago and I'm spending some once in a while. I like the idea of having Bitcoin ATMs all over the place though.

Never used one before, I guess it will feel exciting like the first time I used a crypto debit card, swiping and withdrawing cash from from fiat ATM.

Last used a BTC ATM to buy into the 2015 dip. They were non-KYC at that time. That has changed, in my part of the woods, since then.

I have never had the good fortune to use a Bitcoin ATM and I have never used it. I'm really glad to see the picture you shared with us.

Honestly, I have never seen a Bitcoin ATM with my own eyes. In fact, Bitcoin has not yet been legalized in my country. I don't know when it will be possible. But I really want to use Bitcoin ATM. I don't know if I'll ever be able to use it.

I request you to make a video while using Bitcoin ATM in future and share it with us. I've been waiting for that video of yours and I will be really happy to see that video.

I look forward to your 30 Day Content Creation Challenge.

Simply awesome and India is going in right direction regarding cryptocurrencies. I can see lots of new employment opportunities have be created just due to crypto market.

I know that there will be more acceptance from general public and government as well in the coming years and it will ultimately have positive affect on the economy.

I think, there are going to be 100,000 more ATM machines in 2022. Just awesome stuff.

Used one in a coffee shop in Dublin in 2016. A bit anticlimactic as I had to wait an hour for 6 confirmations and had to pay for my coffee in euros.
Still that was the beginning of a journey!

I have never used a Bitcoin ATM yet, and I doubt whether any in my city or even in country.

I've never used one. I think they're for people who want bitcoin but can't get verified on an exchange, and are willing to pay the higher fees charged by the ATM.

Also, because of the lack of verification, they only work one way - fiat to BTC.

If you want BTC to fiat, you are stuck.

I have never used one and I don't think I will due to the fees. I think there are easier methods to get BTC without relying on one.

I Haven't used one. My country doesn't really embrace cryptocurrency. I'm however opened to use it if need be. Hopefully I stumble upon one in 2022

I’ve never used one till now, but isn’t it easier to use an exchange debit card instead of ATMs?
I know there are BTC ATMs within my city, and a few years ago they made sense, but i would say its easier to use a card now.

The main advantage of a crypto ATM is no KYC. Of course, it's so much easier to use card now :)

Amazing! I love the idea of them, but the fees! Even ones that do DOGE!

Fees are high for sure and it cost money to provide this kind of service offering Fiat to Crypto and vice versa.

Crypto debit cards like Crypto.com have less fess

It works well, it is connected to a network that displays how much cash is inside. It functions also anonymously, as no data is needed till a certain sum.

The first Bitcoin ATM that I saw was in Dubai 2017.

It's interesting to see the spread of these BTC ATM's while at the same time fiat ATM's are disappearing from so many places.

Also in the kinds of shops they are appearing in?
Nisa etc are usually small local shops found in small country towns or villages by the coast not so often seen in London.

This is a fascinating observation Nathan. Well spotted. 👍

I'd give it less than 5 years. Banks don't like cash handling (to costly) they want to get rid of all bank branches and ATM's.
99% of all bank tx are already digital. 😂👍

I have not seen or used a Bitcoin atm machine before maybe because it is not in Nigeria and I have not travel outside my country before. The true is that apart form the bull run that happen this year another thing that help increased the knowledge and spread of cryptocurrency is the pandemic, people don't go to work or anywhere so they are forced to remain with their phones sometimes to kill loneliness and they also have the time to try new things out on the internet that why majority people know and have the full knowledge of how cryptocurrency works this year some even attend training just to expand their knowledge assuming there is no lockdown everywhere even when they know about it they will not have time to gather the necessary and adequate knowledge due to their busy schedule.

I've never used a Bitcoin or crypto ATM even if I see them popping everywhere. We live in a digital era and can easily exchange crypto for fiat or even use crypto cards that pay directly with fiat. So why would anyone need an ATM, it beats me...

Those are some interesting numbers and a massive jump up in ATM's from one year to the next. I haven't used one yet but hopefully one day they will be as common place as any other ATM.

I wish there was more and more competition for these ATM’s, at least at that point we can see the competition drive the prices down. Right now the majority of them pay “rent” to the owners of the establishments that carry them. Once we get to the point where establishments are paying to get this machines to bring more traffic to their store, then we will be at some mainstream adoption stage + can expect reasonable prices for the convenience and anonymity.
