On the few days finishing daily quests on Splinterlands, I get only a random $0.01 card or 5 to 10 DEC per day. It looks like I will have to wait a month to get decent cards without spending more than the $10 spellbook.

To be honest, the Rising Star game has not intrigued me in the slightest, but I still joined to give it a chance. However, in the several minutes I played the game, I found it too repetitive. I'd still hold on to the game for a few more days though.

It is a very interesting game, you progress from a busker to be a megastar.
For energy, you need to have the boosters, especially the cold pizza slice or you can even have a discarded piece of pizza on completing the missions.
As you proceed further, you'll manage to form your own band, and different zones will open for you.

Is it worth it to buy Energy boosters such as Pizzas and Coffees?

Based on what I read, I need to redeem the Starbits first at Level 20 to be able to use them to purchase in-game.

If you can afford
I'd recommend buying the pizza box (it stores the discarded pizza you get from missions) and cold pizza slice( it refills 100 percent once in 24 hours) energy is important to level up faster.
