So far I have noticed that the singing lessons give more Skills points than the guitar lessons.

The reason why is because you have more singing instruments compared to guitar instruments. The more of an instrument you stack(more duplicates also help), the more the skill reward will go up. This is why it is better to focus on one or two instruments.

I was jut going to say the same thing as @jfang003. Generally players choose a favourite instrument and collect those. To get maximum skill rewards.
Good to know that now I won't sell my extra microphones.
