Author Rewards Slowly Fading Away
For as long as I’ve been here (four and a half years), my author rewards (on a monthly basis) have been larger than my curation rewards. But that’s starting to change. More and more frequently, I’ve been seeing days when curation has outstripped author rewards (two of them in the last week). Sure, maybe it’s partially from getting fewer upvotes for my flotsam and jetsam posts. But I think it could be anecdotal evidence that the rapidly expanding user base is making earning Hive Power from posting just a little bit harder every day. If so, it’s a good thing. If powering up and and having stake is what it takes to succeed here, it strengthens the Hive ecosystem. We recently passed two million accounts. I firmly believe that by the time we hit four or five million accounts, curation will be what drives earnings for most of the active accounts here.
Most of the current active accounts I am guessing. Someone will have to be creating content if we are still getting curation rewards in the future. This is pretty interesting. I haven't really paid too much attention to my curation lately. I think my percentage is pretty low because I don't chase the best rates or anything. I will have to check my stats and see where I am at.

Well it's also probably because you're what, a whale or an orca? Higher HP = higher curation rewards, no? I'm still a dolphin so this isn't happening for me yet, but I also vote manually 100% to boot. I know some people like to optimize their voting habits but I prefer doing it the old fashioned way, even if it means my curation rewards could be better.
I'm a big dolphin, a bit short of being an orca. Whale is far over the horizon and almost certain to never happen. 😅

And you have a pretty decent stake now too, most people don't power up don't forget.
And the curation returns on the tribes is much better of course!
Curation rewards tend to pay much more with the curation schedule introduced in the last hard fork as well.
You are quite right, curation will be the king around here as that means engagement!
