Three Tune Tuesday. A few More Classic Covers.

avatar

It's Tuesday and I love Tuesdays because I always have content for a post with all round top bloke @ablaze's ever growing initiative Three Tune Tuesday. Fair play to the Galway man taking time to listen and comment on all the entries. Having started some initiatives myself such as Last Man Standing there is much more effort put in that you would like to believe so hats off to him.

I love a good cover song by famous artists covering famous artists and my discover weekly algorithm on Spotify always throws me up some great cover tracks from different artists. Music has been a massive part of my life and I will listen to anything to give it a chance with the exception of death metal and some of the genres where lads are just roaring into a microphone because they are backed up. I am even more puzzled that I am hearing songs today that were released at the height of my musical knowledge that I have heard for the first time. Even bands that I am into such as Radiohead and The Jam covered tracks that I have never heard before so it boggles the mind how they escaped me at the time.

The Jam - Heatwave

I have always liked The Jam and I have always liked the song heatwave that has been covered to death. Phil Collins actually did a great cover version of it but I quite like the Jam's version of it too. Weller was in his prime in the Jam and they are really an underrated band. This band pretty much trailblazed the British culture for a time and not many bands did this. Songs such as That's Entertainment , Town Called Malice and Going Underground are all massive hits. They do a good heatwave as well.

The Jaded Hearts Club -Do I Love You (Indeed I do)

Now what I wrote above is about these guys. I have never heard of them until last week would you believe. The Jaded hearts clubs are a supergroup consisting of Miles Kane , Nic Cester (from the band Jet) , bassist Matt Bellamy of Muse, Graham Coxon of Blur. Sean Payne (the Zutons) and a couple of more superstars from various bands. This song appeared on my discover weekly playlist and was blown away by this song. They were formed in 2017 and sing classics from the 60's and 70's. They even have an album. I have never known about this but their album is excellent by the way. You should check it out.

Catfish & the Bottlemen - Read My Mind

I'm 40 now and one of the modern bands I am into is Catfish & the Bottlemen. I have even gone to see them in concert with all the young ones and it is the first time I have ever felt my age. But I enjoyed the gig. I first started getting into Catfish when they did a killers cover in Australia which was magnificent. I love when bands make their cover sound different than the original. (Unless you are modern day Bob Dylan covering his own song which is just shit.) So this guy really did put another slant on the Killers hit 'Read My Mind'. Subtle changes makes the song even better. I even think it was an upgrade. The little change of song at the end is great as well but I am not sure if an R Kelly song is the way to go given his history. It's still a good song however.

All pretty solid tunes, even if I've never heard the originals. You sure know a lot of music.

I'm always happy whenever it's Tuesday because, I get to recommend song for my musicians and music lovers on Hive,.

They might even know some of these songs but have not listened to them in a while!
Recommendations ignites passion for music after you must have listened to the song again!

Ya serious tunes there when you name them out, Weller some talent, like his solo stuff too. Don't think I'd heard that version of Heatwave before, nice shout man.

The Jaded Hearts Club -Do I Love You -- That's quality man, and another new one on me and only ~20K Youtube plays, so a serious hidden gem..

Catfish & the Bottlemen - Read My Mind -- Great intro to this one and a cracker of a version to boot, also new to me, so a clean sweep of new ones and all quality, nice one.
