Liquid Drum & Bass - FiendReflex & Gina Lola - A Better Life (Nicky Havey Remix)

As the "blog every day" challenge comes to an end over on the Hive network (or HiveBloPoMo as it's known), I have been struggling to come up with things to present over these final few days but sometimes, the Universe just gives you a little nudge. I went looking on YouTube for some liquid drum & bass mixes and as I was listening in to a delicious guest mix from LIQUERUS on the Seismic Noise DNB channel, I started hearing something familiar... a remix that I did of FiendReflex and Gina Lola's beautiful original called A Better Life. Here is my remix:

Back In Time

I wasn't expecting to hear this one again as it was released in 2015 and I think FiendReflex is now releasing under another alias called Axillian and Gina is now Quartizone but I may be wrong! The Allowance Records label changed to Exitus and I decided to leave the label back then and focus on real life things but it was a great time with them and met both talented artists in London a few times. FiendReflex taught me how to mix on vinyl but I sucked at the time although I eventually went to DJ controllers for my mixes, shout out to him!

We went to a festival around that time as well called "Chilled In A Field" and Allowance Records had a takeover in one of the tents on Saturday. The night before I arrived, Gina told me that they played out my Better Life remix in the "forest stage" at the festival, which was basically a stage in the nearby woods, which apparently sounded awesome. I would have loved to have been there but couldn't get down to the site in time! Still, the weekend was an awesome one and to hear this olden goldie appear in a mix brought back those good times!

Liquid Mix

I can't write this post and not include the mix from Liquerus that put a big smile on my face! There are some very nice tunes in this one and it's made me think that maybe I shouldn't go full cold turkey and close down all my accounts... maybe. I'm definitely going to be having a break from blogging and being online but with beats as good as these getting mixed together, perhaps recharging the batteries will help greatly to find some headspace again.
