Sabsabong ti Mayo

Good Day Guys

I was walking around Rose Garden which's located at Burnham Park, and something caught my eye. I saw that there were a lot of mannequins covered with plants and flowers. I went online to check what this is and they were celebrating "Sabsabong ti Mayo"/ Flowers of May. It was a Floral Sculpture Competition. Just look at this mannequin, it's ready for the pandemic with its mask.

When I passed by through this park it just rained, so most of the sculptures were wet. This mannequin used dried leaves and plant fibers. It was something unique because it was the only brown one there.

As I was walking, there are some mannequins that are being fixed up and rebuilt so that's why I couldn't go closer to take a photo, I was kinda shy going near them.

As you look closer at the photo, you can see that the mannequin is full of floral foam while these two ladies were putting sticking those flowers and plants.

I continued walking, and I decided to take a photo of one of the roses in this garden. It really looked so pretty. The rain enhanced its beauty. I noticed that there were more people fixing up the mannequins. It made me wonder why were the other mannequins abandoned?

I saw that this mannequin was all along and people were taking photos with it, so after their photo shoot, I immediately went there to take photos up close. This mannequin looked good, but I hope that the people who made it would also replace some of the dying plants/ flowers.

This design looked really unique, they didn't even use a mannequin for it. Though the first thing that came into my mind was that it looked like a scarecrow with a lot of flowers on it.

I was looking at this sculpture and it made me curious about how it would end up looking. It was still full of floral foam. But I really loved how the headdress looks like.

image.png

I was looking also at this sculpture. Just look at the gown, whoever made this was really patient, imagine sticking all those flowers to make a gown.

I wanted to stay for a longer period of time but I had to meet my mom and sibling. But it was a really nice experience watching people design the mannequins. It really shows how creative and artistic they are. They all must be patient also with all the sticking of the flowers. They all should be proud of their work.

FYI @sgbonus, it looks like you forgot to change the community tag before posting this one. Unless, of course, you consider mannequins to be some form of pet... 😂
