Hello and welcome. This is the very first edition of Hive Today, a weekly zine. The goal is to summarize development updates and community events to provide a curated news digest for Hive. It is published every week on Saturday.

If there are specific topics or events you would like to see covered in the next edition, please get in touch here or DM me on Twitter (@hivetrending).

General Hive News

Testing continues on the Hard Fork 24 code. Soon we will know if it will happen on September 16th or get pushed out to September 22nd. Once the date is confirmed, a countdown timer will become visible on All of the HF24 details are here: Tentative Hardfork Date Set! Weekly dApp News

The @NFTShowroom crypto art market dApp has published a major update. Included are look-and-feel changes, Unlockables feature, and a referral system. More details about these features can be found here.

@Splinterlands has deployed an update which significantly changes the league system. This change makes it such that leagues have Collection Power requirements. Meaning, the size and quality of Splinterlands card collection is taken into account when determining each player’s league. Read more about this update here.

@HiveList, an app for listing goods and services for sale, has been listed on StateOfTheDapps. Hivelist — Classifieds, HiveCommerce, and Business Services.

This week the LEO token market price surged on news of an upcoming wrapped LEO Ethereum token. Wrapped LEO (wLEO) would allow LEO token holders to transact on the ever-popular Uniswap DEX. This news comes just weeks after wrapped Hive (wHIVE) emerged and two wHIVE Uniswap trading pairs were created. More information about wLEO can be found in this post.

Also this week, publicly announced plans to build a Hive-based social platform. A portion of fees collected for Hive trading pairs will be donated to the Hive DAO. And an upcoming AMA session is planned and will be lead by @theycallmedan. This announcement was made on Twitter here.

Hive Power Up Day - September, 2020

The latest Hive Power Up Day (HPUD) took place this week, on September 1st. More than 30,000 Hive was powered up during the event. And many users claimed unique @HiveBuzz badges for participating. For more details on the results and contest winners check out this post.

Communities Discovery initiative by @theycallmedan

A Hive onboarding contest is running through the month of September. At the end of the month, prizes are awarded to whomever can sign up the most new, active users using their referral link. The JoinHive contest rules are here. This contest is organized by @hivepeople.

Two HiveChat events were held this week on Twitter. HiveChat latino once again reached the #1 trending Twitter topic in Venezuela. Congrats to the HiveLatino community!

I've seen a few people producing 'Newsletters' on Hive. I like your style; Subject, brief description, links. Perfect.

"If you don't have enough power or Crypto to upvote me; reshare me instead. Reshares are worth their weight in gold!"

Don't forget, you can upvote peoples comments too!

This comes at a really important time and is needed to help hold cohesion. With a small section of the community over on twitter communicating at the speed of light, where a tweet 30 mins ago is old news, the rest of the chain often has little idea what's going on. Really NICE work @hivetrending - hope everyone who votes and comments also Reblogs and Follows this account. And @HiveLift too. Shameless plug. 😆

It will take time for word to spread, I hope you are able to keep the project going. I have added you to one of the list I keep for my own interest, so don't be overly concerned about a lack of followers, I am sure many other than myself have taken advantage of the peakd list function.

Like stevec I will re-blog the post so that perhaps a few of my followers will find it also.

Additions: perhaps upcoming meet-ups for people, a section that parents can get their kids involved in like contest designed for homeschoolers, or kid activity type post. Book of the month from Hive Authors.

Thanks for the feedback! Agree consistency and longevity are key. Aiming to keep this light-weight and sustainable as well as recruit 1-2 volunteers to help out when I'm unable to publish.

I need a way to crowd source tips because I'm certain I'm unaware of many events and contests. I'm thinking to ask folks to use the "news" tag to get my attention to be included in this digest.

A lot of it is going to be just hunting and pecking through post. If you do not use the list function of peakd I would suggest it so as to try and keep a list of know content producers, it will make it easier in the long run to find things.

Example would be one list for contest creators, (I have one for them), you simply add people who do contest on a regular basis to it. Then as you find more contest people you can add them with out getting your primary feed overloaded with post.

Creating and maintaining a list is pretty easy on peakd, you simply click the action box and then add to list, type in the name for the list. Make a list for each news section. By the time you get to edition ten of your posts you will have a pretty solid list setup and then putting the post together will be easier.

Using hivenews tag would be super.

So much is going on here you can lose track.
Thanks for leaving a link as well for reference.

This kind of newsletter is what we have needed on Hive! Thanks for putting it together. Clear follow! And once I'm back from the desert, I will send some delegation your way, should you need it.

Thanks for the offer, no delegation needed. Posting once per week is possible with 0HP. I'm actually going to start burning and/or giving away the post rewards.
