I Am Alive Challenge Day 91 - Lots To Be Grateful For

Today I have a lot to be grateful for. My wife Grace and daughter Gaby are truly a blessing. My wife always makes sure I have coffee when I wake up and some to take to work. She always makes my food to take to work. My daughter Gaby is also a great cook and will cook for Grace and me when we come home from work.

We all are living in a one-bedroom apartment but I am grateful. Many people do not have a place to live. We get by and get to do fun things, like going to the zoo last weekend. I know it is only a matter of time before God will bless us with enough money for a two-bedroom apartment.

I am lucky to have my job. Since I decided to focus on doing what I love, helping others, and not what I am educated for, I have a good salary for my position. Maybe I could earn more using my degree, but I love helping people with mental health conditions, especially since I have been through some tough times myself. I feel God has equipped me for this job by going through trials.

I almost forgot to mention Tanner, AKA Mr. Tan Man our dog. I was heartbroken when were looking for a place and no one would accept dogs. Luckily we found one strangely and got to keep Mr. Tan Man.

He is very playful and greets me warmly every day when I come home from work.

Well, it is almost time to come home from work. I had a good day. I am alive and blessed!

Hello @johnandgrace. Congratulations to you on your post being selected for today's Alive Engagement Challenge.

You certainly have a lot to be grateful for. In reading your post, I can feel the warmth and love you have for your wife and daughter. And your family pet! So happy to hear you located a suitable apartment for all three of you.

When you mention that you could be making more money in a career that matches your degree, it tells what type of person you are to choose humanitarian work instead. Working in that field where more people like you are needed is admirable. Mental health is a crisis that grips and cripples the entire family.

Doing something that brings you joy and peace of mind, while meeting your family's needs financially can never be seen as demeaning or not fulfilling your potential.

Take care, and stay safe. Have a good weekend.
