Introducing Myself: Hi Steemit, I'm Joe. Nice to meet you!

Hello Steemit! My name is Joe, and it’s a pleasure to count myself a member of your growing community. I’ve been a long-time user of social media, and I’m always on the lookout for a new platform with promise. I’m fascinated by the idea that people should be compensated for the content they create, and am excited about the opportunity to share this space with you.

About me: I’m a married 43-year-old father of two small boys (ages 8 and 3). I spent 12 years in print and TV, with a decade at alternative weekly newspaper Creative Loafing Tampa followed by 2 years at the ABC affiliate in Sarasota, Florida. In 2016, I parlayed my writing/editing skills into a job in marketing for a software company that specializes in 3D AR/VR solutions for retailers. I’ve been very lucky.

In between all the child-rearing and marketing, I play in a band (Zerobabies, out of St. Petersburg, Florida), and obsess over movies, sports, politics and the occasional TV show.

I’m excited to use Steemit as a personal clearinghouse for things I write, music I make, pictures I take, and videos I produce. I have no idea if anyone will enjoy one bit of it — and I honestly don’t much care either way. Yes, I hope you love my ramblings. I hope you dig the band videos and sound clips. And most of all, I hope is all prompts interesting conversations that raise thought-provoking ideas.

Eight suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, keychain and steemconnect,
  3. The master password is only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit,
    be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own,
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once,
  7. When you open your steemit.com, in the upper right corner of the page there are 3 bars. Click on those, and then on the "welcome", and you will get a lot of reading material that will help you, and
  8. Do NOT open any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

Hello Joe, I'm Joey. Great name. Awesome family. I'm from Oregon. My grandma was from Florida, but I've not been there yet. Are you really into The Walking Dead? I've done some web design but not so much 3D animation like you as modelling can be more time consuming. Well, perhaps not as time consuming as realistic painting. I'm more the meme maker or comic guy. I'm more the idea man.

Compensation

For too long, Facebook has been making money off us. Technically, they may feel entitled towards that. I love cryptocurrencies, blockchain tech, as it seeks to compete against tech cartels, the Federal Reserve that is not actually federal, etc.
