Hello Everyone,

ALL TOKEN TRANSFERS WILL TAKE PLACE LATER THIS WEEK DUE TO TECHNICAL CHALLENGES.

ARE YOU SAVING FOR THE XV? - Launch 1 MARCH 2023

Have you seen the notice about the new "XV" token that will be coming out on the @spinvest account? Check this post for all the FAQs:

  • XV TOKENS will sell for 10 weeks at 1 HIVE each (1 billion available - enough for everyone 😎).
  • SPinvest takes all the HIVE from sales and converts it into a basket of 15 cryptos ranked in the top 50
  • SPinvest holds the cryptos in offline wallets (possibly earning an APY with some)
  • Every 6 months, the basket is rebalanced
  • In June 2025, SPinvest converts the crypto basket back into HIVE and buys back XV tokens from investors

Each token costs 1 HIVE, on sale from 1 March-10 May 2023.

1. EDSMM Challenge

Thank you everyone who took part in last week's challenge - five savers linked their HPUD posts and we have a winner: @stdd - yay!

@hoosie reported there were 18 savings post last week, saving an estimated 890 HP or an average of 60 HP per saver. That would come to over 46,000 HP over a year, with each saver saving about 3,000 HP. Excellent! Read it here

This week the challenge is to give your ideas about how to save $10 a day for month!

2. 365 Day Savings Challenge

It's Week 9 on our savings plan and we're added 4.20 HIVE to @sally-saver's wallet. We're up to 20.16 HIVE already!

EDS for Comments

We had comments from 26 savers! Everyone went into the Wheel of Names and we have winners: @ericburgoyne and @successchar - hurrah! check your wallets! 😍

3. Information and Resources

EDS and EDSM Queries

The quickest way to get any queries about payments resolved is to post a message in the #eddie-earner channel of the SPinvest discord: https://discord.gg/RQZubGeeTH and tag @silverstackeruk. Most problems that happen are technical bugs and are quickly resolved once we know about them. Housekeeping for @eddie-earner, EDS, EDSM and EDSMM is usually done on Monday UTC.

Saturday Savers Club Discord Chat

Join us for chat about savings and investments: https://discord.gg/RQZubGeeTH

Ground Rules:

  • The SPI family motto is Get Rich Slowly. This covers EDS, EDSM and EDSMM, the home tokens for the Saturday Savers Club, as well as SPI, LBI and CL. The bottom line is that we are looking for well-researched options which bring a steady income. Good options will have an identifiable and easily accessible team (with emphasis on more than one person involved), a clear plan and use case for the token, and transparency and accountability through regular reporting.
  • Individual members are free (of course they are) to publish guides to tokens under their own account - and any number of members can do that.

Congrats to the winners !
To save $10 a day, it's very simple if you are a smoker, just quit because that's the price of a pack of cigarettes in my country. If you don't smoke, it's also the price of two beers in a bar. If you don't go to bars either, you are already thrifty. 🤣

Congrats to @stdd!

To save $10 a day. How I would try and go about it would be to take the $10x 28 days in a month and take this from my wages and put into the savings account straight away. This would be paying yourself first. With that done, I would play with the budget for the rest of the month.

That would probably be my starting place, too.
How safe do you think HBD is for holding savings?

0
0
0.000
avatar

That's a good question. I would feel generally safe with it as a layer1 token but its safety is dependent on the health of the whole Hive ecosystem and its future longetivity and how much exposure you are happy with to this. At this stage of the market cycle when crypto is down around 80% from its highs, I would prefer to hold assets that can appreciate right now and then look to switch to fixed price assets at the other end of the cycle to crystalise gains.

I was thinking about depositing monthly in HBD for twelve months to gain the 20% interest (then withdrawing a sum and starting again).

If we start using HBD for short-term savings and for trading (services and goods rather than other tokens), we contribute to the health and longevity of the ecosystem?

I agree, though, it depends on how much exposure you're happy with. I was thinking I would need a contingency plan 😍.

That sounds like a good plan. The Annual APY is 21,93% and it should really be the long-term goal of many Hivers to balance their Hive account with Hive and HBD, at least while the interest rates make it attractive to do so. The compounding effects at this level are amazing to see.

If we start using HBD for short-term savings and for trading (services and goods rather than other tokens), we contribute to the health and longevity of the ecosystem?

I think it can only help it. The only downside with HBD IMO is the 20% interest rate has a long-term negative impact on the price of Hive as the burden to support this interest payment increases. This can only be countered by a large growth in the Hive ecosystem.

I guess it is all about balance - high interest rate to incentivise using HBD as a stable coin, then reducing the rate to balance the overall economy.

I was looking yesterday at the facility to pay for things in HBD - I think that's great.

I was away on holiday last week, so didn't do an update post - sorry ! I'll do this week's one this evening.

As for how to save $10 a day, I think my answer is actually quite straightforward. To save $10 a day, you have to either earn $10 a day more, or stop spending on something. I prefer the first option, so I've been trying to post on Hive twice as often as before. It's not at $10 a day yet, but I can see that if I can do it consistently for a few months, it'll get to that point. Plus there's all that lovely compounding.

Being really cheeky, if you had $16500 to put into HBD, it would make you almost exactly $10 a day in interest... does that count ? 😁

I love the idea of having 16,500 HBD and getting $10 per day. I just need to find the 16,500 HBD first !!

Hi all, I had an ok week this week. I added +42 HP and had a few nice HBD:HIVE trades go through. I'm considering also collecting LGN as it looks like it pays HIVE drips weekly - but I've more research to do. And I also bought my first XV tokens (not many - but its a start !). My weekly update can be found here:
https://leofinance.io/@hoosie/saturday-savers-club-progress-week-8-an-average-week-but-thats-ok

I forgot about linking my HPUD post last week ! For this weeks challenge to save $10 a day - I'm not too sure. I'd probably have to make lunch for work, as opposed to buying it in the canteen, and maybe cut out a takeaway each week (we usually have one on a Friday). Then after that I'd probably also have to be more thoughtful about when we use our car (ie, go to a closer supermarket, less often) - that type of thing.

Anyway - best of luck to everyone for the coming week - keep on stacking !!!!
Cheers @hoosie

I think XV is an interesting project, but i am already in so many different things involved that i will maybe skip it first. Despite it is tempting :D

To save $10 a day i cook always a bit more for dinner, so that i have prepared lunch every day at my home office and there is no need to waste money getting lunch outside :)

Saving $10 a day is…exactly what I'm doing now and the reason I started Hive.
My wife and I quit smoking and each week we put 50% of the money we save into an investment account and 50% into Hive.
Details on this can be found in my weekly reports, last week's is here: https://ecency.com/hive-167922/@hivecurious/my-goals-for-2023-weekly-report-6
And BTW, the goals were also achieved this week 🤪

Hey, guys!
Thanks for the winning!)
Regarding $10 a day: You can't save what you don't have at all. Or if you only have $10 a day at your disposal. Unfortunately, in my country this is as real as in Africa, probably. But making $10 a day is another matter. Savings and Hive to the rescue!

Hello everyone and congratulations to @stdd for the win!!!

Ideas to save 10 dollars a day... for me at this moment that is far from my possibilities. And it is one of the reasons why I am trying hard to increase my stack in Hive, in the hope of achieving a passive income in the future that will allow me to save a good amount for rainy days.

Here is my humble entry and participation to the Saturday Savers Club for week 9.

https://ecency.com/hive-167922/@pinkchic/saturday-savers-club-week-9-of-the-365-day-savings-challenge

Saving every single day maybe a challenging task but I am delighted to say that I am still keeping on track and I have successfully completed the 365 Challenge for week 9, specifically having both 20.16 HBD plus 0.078 HBD interest, and 20.16 Hive in my wallet.

As usual, I am using a spreadsheet to have a journal of my progress until the 365th day of the year. It does not matter how slow or small my every day saving is for I firmly believe that still, the slow and steady wins the challenge. I hope I could keep up my momentum in 2023 and beyond.

Congratulations to all the winners and happy saving to one and all!

To save $10 a day, you must check your expenses and see if you can remove any luxuries. This could include alcohol, going out and other things like that. It will add up over time.

Forgot to post my hpud link :(

My posting for this Saturday:
https://ecency.com/hive-167922/@mein-senf-dazu/09-2023-saturday-savers-club

10$ is a lot for me, i could not save money with not smoking as someone said, because i don't Smoke, i would have to stop earing, could make it, but wouldn't be good.

So i would have to collect every day Rubish (currently 1-2 times a week) to get an upvote from @cleanplanet and @cleanyourcity, an use rhe Token to get more upvote this would be about 0,5-1HBD.

Then i would have also to post every day with @hive-coding. That would be maybe 1-3 HBD.

Make more features and get more Premiumuser for hivegadgets.com

But i think still not enough. Maybe i should ask than chatgpt for more ideas.

Chatgpt would say:

There are several ways you could earn $10 a day for one month. Here are some ideas:

Online surveys: There are various websites that pay users to complete online surveys. You can sign up with multiple survey sites, and each survey usually pays between $1 to $5.

Freelancing: If you have a skill that you can offer online, such as graphic design, writing, or programming, you can find freelance work on sites like Upwork or Fiverr.

Online tutoring: If you have expertise in a particular subject, you can offer online tutoring services through websites like Chegg or TutorMe.

Virtual assistant: You can work as a virtual assistant for individuals or businesses, assisting with tasks such as data entry, email management, and scheduling appointments.

Sell items online: You can sell items you no longer need on websites like eBay, Craigslist, or Facebook Marketplace.

Micro-tasking: You can complete small tasks online, such as data entry or website testing, through websites like Amazon Mechanical Turk or Clickworker.

Social media management: You can manage social media accounts for small businesses or individuals who don't have the time or expertise to do so themselves.

Remember, the amount you earn may vary depending on the specific opportunity, your experience, and how much time and effort you put in.

The best of this would be to sell things i don't need anymore.

Congratulations to this week's winners.

Saving $10 a month here is really impossible on a $40 a month salary.

That's why I'm happy to be in hive, because with what I generate here, I can go collecting to buy things that with my salary would be impossible.

Being in this savings club, will allow me to make the habit and maybe someday I will be able to save those 10$ a day.

For those who can, you should do it.

This is my participation for week 9, where I will tell you my progress.

Thank you for reminding us of the XV tokens. Need to have a look at it.

Congrats to the winners and all the best to everyone this week!

How to save $10 a day for a month?

That's a good question and my mind immediately work out on a thing or two but my alter ego refuses to acknowledge it because it means cutting back on some of my indulgences like chocolates, daily sweet treats and snacks, dining out now and then etc.

I am not salaried so money comes sporadically (not daily) but before spending any of them, we set aside 10-15% straight away.

Update on my goal progress

Slacking a bit but both my Leo & Hive Power has grown a bit from last week, re:

Leo Power: from 9,972 to 10,152 LP = 180 LP
Hive Power: from 846 to 879 HP = 33 HP

Congratulations to the winners. How to save $10 a day? I would remove all streaming services that would certainly make it possible.
I had a very similar week to the previous one and now I'm at 844 HP and I've added 19 HP. I continue to grow steadily and I think I will have to revise my upward target soon.

Sounds good for the XV. Will consider getting some.

As for saving $10 dollars a day. I used to do that when I was younger. In my country, the different dollar value of the actual money we use is of different colour and the $5 note is green in colour vs other which were purple, red or blue.

So what I did was to give myself a daily goal of whenever because of payment of exchange, to keep the green notes until I hit my goal. With that I can effectively save up to the amount required for the day, since my daily expenditure will go above $10 be it for commuting or food. Hope this spark off some ideas for our members on saving daily. Cheer and have an awesome weekend.
