Why are you here? I mean...what's the real reason why you are here.

What's the very first thing that comes on your mind when you hear the word STEEM?

I found out about Steem some 22 months ago...accidentally of course. Most of you probably know the story since I've talked about it in the past, but that's not the reason why I am writing these lines.

The real reason is because I want to know the reasons why YOU are here. Why not in TRON community, or EOS or somewhere else damnit?

I've asked this question mostly in discord channels and in direct messages with people I talk on daily basis in discord but I thought it would be a good idea to reach out to as many of you as possible. The most common response I get is for the rewards of course...

Don't get me wrong here. Everyone wants increased rewards...it would be irrational not to, but I am talking about the greater picture.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word STEEM is community. Sounds cliche, right? Well think again. Communities are consisted of people, real people. That makes Steem unique in a way. A living entity that keeps growing day after day for the past 3.5 years.

That's probably the main reason why I chose to stay and eventually be addicted to it. The chance I had to interact with real people, to learn about their culture and way of life. And over time, I imagined what this place could turn into, and I just wanted to be a part of it.

I've imagined Steem being the World's biggest library, something like Google...where anyone would be one click away from gathering any kind of information they want.

A place where artists can exhibit their work...and be digitally rewarded for their efforts.

A place where authors can publish their books / e-books, and journalists to express their views, without the fear of censorship. -It's already happening-

The possibilities are countless and many of the people who despite the fact that they spend a fair amount of time and energy around here don't seem to understand it...just yet.

Assuming you are a passionate photographer. What's stopping you from building your business on top of steem blockchain, exhibit your work and sell your product to future customers. After all you have copyrights for your work/art so nobody is allowed to use it unless you give your permission or get paid for it.

It's right before our eyes. Specific Tribes have already shown the way...LEO Tribe is probably the greatest example of what the future can bring.

Don't underestimate what communities are capable of. Take a look in the real world.

It's people who won wars...it's people who freed themselves from slavery...it's people who achieved greatness. United.

You may think that the only think we have achieved by now is to win a few online "competitions", right? Then you are shortsighted. Check all those people from Venezuela who found shelter here. They found support here when the world was collapsing right under their feet. When their very own government couldn't do anything to help them...Steem did.

So I am asking again. Is for the rewards of course good enough for an answer?

You are obviously thinking that I am one of those romantic fools, who believe that they can change something for the better in this world, right? Well yes I am.

I wish I could lend you my eyes...to see for yourselves how is the world that I am dreaming of looks like...

It will probably take many years to get there...but at some point we will...

Full #Newsteem ahead.

Potential as a blockchain and real use-case, usable and working, but on top of everything because the great community we are creating.

i would say the second most used cliche: the community

Note here that when i joined there were just a few people. We didn't have all this bid-bot fuzz and abuse. So the majority of people were enthusiasts about the possibilities and other just experimenting. They all had one common element though. They were kind and helpful to each other something that i literally have never seen anywhere else.

The best part is that they gave advises and stuff, you would feel welcomed and most of them as me a little bit later and i guess a lot of us by now just want for everyone to succeed.

What I found as a community, although in the forums I do not see a similar treatment to here.

Maybe, just maybe are you interacting with the wrong people?

2 years ago, on bitcointalk, which was mostly where good discussions were found, I almost didn't find active forums, and well I got to steemit for that, here there were devs, witness, and amazing people. On other platforms, people are too technical and it's hard to keep up.
