The Netherlands, the most open country for marijuana in the past 50 years!

The Netherlands, the most open country for marijuana in the past 50 years!

The Dutch attitude towards cannabis is called a gedoogbeleid.

On February 21, 2017, the Netherlands passed a bill allowing the cultivation of cannabis, allowing residents to grow no more than 5 strains of cannabis.

In 1976, the Dutch Opium Law Amendment divided drugs into two categories:
Hard drugs: such as heroin, cocaine, etc., which cause great health hazards and are highly addictive.
Soft drugs: such as marijuana, etc., that is, the health risks to the human body are not so great.

The marijuana cafes began to appear in the private sector, and their industry rules were to ban hard drugs and sell soft drugs.
The national authorities did not ban the marijuana cafes.

With the increase in cannabis cafes, by 2001,
The Netherlands clearly stipulates that marijuana cafes must comply with the following regulations ,
it will not be prosecuted for selling marijuana:

  1. The cannabis sold to each person per day shall not exceed 5 grams;
  2. Do not sell hard drugs;
  3. Do not publish drug advertisements;
  4. No nuisance behavior;
  5. Do not allow people under the age of 18 to enter or sell drugs to them.

Anti-drug results in the Netherlands:
The number of people who use hard drugs in the Netherlands has decreased year by year, making it the country with the least number of European addicts.
Therefore, it has been suggested that marijuana is not alcoholism and does not make people fascinated. It is only a phased physiological phenomenon in life.
70% of people do not go to hard drugs after smoking marijuana.

Therefore, opening marijuana can help reduce the harm of drug abuse.

1.向每人每天出售的大麻不得超过5克;
2.不得出售硬性毒品;
3.不得刊登毒品广告;
4.不造成滋扰行为;

Hi @cloudblade

I've been in Amsterdam few times already and even lately I was amazed to witness how people are okey with usage of M.

In my opinion by legalizing marijuana this country managed to get rid of "black market" (which always attract very unusual kind of people).

And people know what they are buying. They are also more aware. And goverments have great profit from taxes. That's my view at the moment.

Upvote on the way :)

Cheers,
Piotr

Amsterdam is not exactly a good example of the Netherlands.
People, there are completely different if it comes to attitude and by now there are more foreigners as Dutchmen. Whole parts of the city are a dump.
Rotterdam is the same, but the tolerance is there as long as you do not bother other people. It is seen as smoking, although you can bake a cake too or use it over your pizza.

A bit of a user grows his own plants and tax has zero, no profit. With 5 plants a person, you can do interesting things. You really think the police knocks on every door? As long as neighbours are not complaining about the smell and there is nothing weird with the electricity bill you can grow more too.

Btw the only thing I can, even have to, pay with bitcoin Is if I buy cannabis online. They can trace me (tax) but not the seller.

You can also ask your doctor for a recipe. If you get it it is for free.

Indeed no one steals car radios etc any longer.

Now we are stabbed in the back, scolded at, spit and threatened by gangs of foreigners who think we accept everything and pay whatever they ask.

Something I can add to your story:
Gedoogbeleid comes from the words gedogen (tolerate) and beleid (policy).

I don't think Amsterdam is a great example of what the Netherlands are but a fact is you find "coffee shops" (as these shops are called) through the whole country.

I think you meant to say that in the Netherlands cannabis is not seen as an addiction instead of the word fascinated you used, which is true.

In fact, cannabis is seen as a drug to heal, painkiller and your doctor can give you a prescription for it.

I doubt if using marijuana will prevent using hard drugs.
People who use are in most cases out of certain social societies. The government has a very strong anti-drinking and smoking campaign since at least 50 years too (not only government commercials).

Still, we find the biggest group of smokers and alcoholics under young people/teenager nowadays and low educated ones. I think this group will only increase in future. Boredom, laziness, no need to work creates circumstances to try out new things. Depressions and the present lifestyle, pressure of government, society and schools finish the job.

On the other hand, as we learned in the past days, Dutch top Athletics love to sell kilos of hard drugs abroad. Like the stupid 21-year-old did at the Sziget Festival in Hungary.

The city of Arnhem had a short project the "drugs boot". A ship has been bought, renovated and was in it's harbor. At the day it should start it sank.
They gave it a new try and it turned out to be the greatest attraction of Arnhem. All addicted including Germany and Belgium came for their free shot (bed and breakfast included).

The intention was to stop the crime in the city, molested cars, etc instead they created something worse.
So that boat had a short life. It also did not look very flattering more like a jail.

P.s. Officially the shops are also not allowed to sell to people from Belgium because Belgium is against it. If this is the case it should be the same for members from other countries (my neighbours from Belgium cannot buy it).

You can buy more if you order online. Payment in bitcoin (nothing else possible). They even send to countries abroad.

Good content 🖕💕

That was watching some news.
Not my experience.
According to the report,
Cannabis seems to be only a little more serious than cigarettes.
So they call him a soft drug,
say it not very addictive.

many people can’t stop smoking.
So people with low willpower are not very good,
Can smoking marijuana also become an old smoker.

Well that a long story and not for this time but it’s not that by the gedoogbeleid our issues with drugs in general are less big. I am not a fan but that’s a political matter that’s also to long to comment on

To understanding,
I'm a foreigner,
I watched those news reports
News regard the Dutch policy as gedoogbeleid
So I didn’t think about the locals’ views.
Thank you for your notice.
