Strike Back (2010) || Tv Series review

Over the past couple of days I was searching how to pass the time in my free hours. I usually like to watch TV series/Anime and luckily one of my brother suggested to watch the Strike Back series. While his review was quite outstanding in terms of selecting movies and Tv series. So I did a little search of my own and saw some nice reviews of it and downloaded season 1 and started watching it. The series has eight seasons, the first season aired on Sky One on 5 May 2010. I saw up-to season 5 as after that in the rest seasons the lead roles were replaced and new casts were generated into the series. I literally like the action/thriller genre very much as this keeps you in the mood all the time.

The series is about a special branch of British Defense Intelligence known as section 20, which does coverts operations across the globe saving the world most of the time.

The first season starts slow and I was loosing my interest because of it. Once the two lead roles Sullivan Stapleton (Damien Scott) and Philip Winchester (Michael Stonebridge) gets together in a team it gets interesting from there. While the story line goes very much effectively and the rhythm of it continuous very smoothly and there were clues in every episodes which made me stay in front of my screen. Each episode is full with suspension and I always hate it when it comes to TV series, they end one episode in such a moment where you will have to watch the next episode in order to clear up the suspense. That is why nowadays I try to stay away from TV series as much as possible.

Damien Scott have a very weak point when it comes to ladies. This is what I liked about the character, not only action was there but fun was involved and the way of enjoying the life of his was on a whole different level. There were some personal agendas as well coming from both the lead characters as the series started to flow. Whereas, Stonebridge is a loving husband who loves his wife and like it that way. No entries for other women but the dedication of both these characters towards each mission and in saving people is immense.

The plot of the series and the selection of places were perfectly suited for the scenes. Each and every character who were in the series their way of connecting with each other throughout the series it was something to look out for in the series and yeah for Damien (Liked that character very much) the series got some spices and it was not only about shooting and murdering people for the sake of country.

The series was based on a novel which was written by soldier "Chris Ryan"of SAS.

Though I liked the series but few things really bugged me a lot. I know how important the lead roles are but they seemed to be each superman in the series without having any kind of effect on them while they completes the mission. Like come on those were too much in some episodes. And not to mention there were some explicit scenes as well which you will have to skip, if you are watching it with someone who you are not comfortable with.

Well I was able to get few things from Strike Back or from any action thriller movies/tv series that never choose to become a spy as a career, as the end result is not very pleasant for everyone.

I liked the series pretty much there might be slight chance because I had no more TV series at hand or was too boring too pass my time but if I had to say I would watch once again the series then it will be a no. I remember watching Friends more than 3 times, this series is not that kind of a series from my point of view.

Spoilers

Stonebridge losses his wife and the will of revenge starts to consume him at some point but the people he worked with (section 20) helped him to go through this feeling and avenge his wife's death likewise Damien as being a playboy he gets to find out at some of point of the series, he has a 16 year old son which makes him a little nervous and the father hood really emerges within himself from that point.

This is my second time watching the series from season 1, and i'm really enjoying seasons 2-4. Yes they are a tad formulaic, but its a good formula so stick to it. I see some good points like the actors actually practicing trigger discipline in the field, and proper ammo counts and improvising weapons.
