New Wallet and New Cryptocurrency

It felt a bit weird on Thursday 13 February 2020 when I reached my 30,000SP milestone. Even more weird when, the next day, the Steemit Tron collaboration(?) was announced.

For a while now, I have been thinking about diversifying. I'd planned it earlier but then Steem-Engine came alone and I got distracted. Two new toys to enjoy and plan for, but now, both of those are on an even keel and earning their own keep, and will reach their own milestones in time.

There is more to do with curation: @jk6276 is killing it with @spinvest-leo and @jk6276.jahm and I have a plan to trail these accounts, using @trincowski's excellent tutorial post. Maybe that will be next week's Steem (or STEEM) housekeeping.

But I was feeling a bit anti-climactic on Thursday. I'd reached everything, and more, that I planned to do, and earlier than expected. I vaguely thought I should follow up the helpful tips @revisesociology had given me about cryptocurrency wallets but went to bed instead.

The Tron deal galvanised me, though, to stop messing about. With a bit more help from @revisesociology (I'd lost the original tips), I set up a new wallet and bought my first Bitcoin, which had the decency to fall below $10,000 for the occasion. Actually, not my first buy, but the first that I intend to hold.

I'm using the budget from the Penny A Day Challenge. I think this might be a more worthwhile place to put it. I know Bitcoin's price is increasing etc, but this is long-term savings, building a stake as I have done with Steem. I like that you can buy small fractions and put it aside. You don't need a great wad of money. I'll probably use the same process I've used for Steem, buying a small amount every week, regardless of the price, with a set budget.

We'll need to see the dust settle for a week or two before it becomes clear about how Steem will move forward. I was interested in @pennsif's post about reviving A Dollar A Day, especially if it is linked with ways to promote Steem. I'm also interested in curation and other initiatives to help attract and retain new users.

Meanwhile, I'm happy with my new wallet.

What wallet did you go for in the end?

Getting one has been on my todo list for well over a year now.

I feel even less like I know what I'm doing since the Tron thing. Powered down this morning for the first time ever!

Coinomi - I found it very easy to use.
What are you going to do with your steem?

I'm hoping things will become clearer and I'll be powering it back up. I just panicked a bit yesterday after having a couple of conversations. Powering down means I'll have more options but I really, really, hope the best isn't to sell it. 😢

Ohhhargggg (this is a shame-groaning) I still have no wallet for cryptocurrency (besides the one in with steem), and I feel as uniformed as ever, although I should by now have learned a bit.
As always thank you for all the links, I will research and perhaps I will learn more ... someday

Well on your way to orca! I really hope the Tron takeover revitalises Steem. They made a good start by releasing communities and I see lots being created. I have not really diversified my crypto holdings, but then I have other investments that I hope will keep me going.

Ha ha, well, I might make it to Orca 😎 We'll see.
I imagine there is a lot to sort out with the Tron sale, but in principle, I think it is a good thing. It'll take a while to settle, but there's plenty in communities to keep people busy.

I hope to get there too, but it may take a couple more years at this rate. I'll keep buying Steem when I can.

Wow that’s awesome! Congrats on your SP accomplishment!

My husband handles all of our other wallets and he has tried to teach me about them but I always forget and get lost. 😖 I’m just glad he handles because otherwise I’d be more stressed out lol.

Thank you 😊 In some ways, I'm not quite sure how it happened! I guess the price has had a lot to do with it. Although, on the whole, I have enjoyed myself here, so it has been easy to spend time. Needleworkmonday made a big difference.
