# The big drop Mark II! - Splinter Stats Season 52 Report Card
@notaboutme
A change in the meta-game led to me crashing out of the Top 50 without even coming close. But it's not all bad :).

I managed to make it into ChampionII once more, but my #66 ranking is considerably worse than in previous season. The battles were tough this time, and my win ratio is clearly lower than before as well! But there is a bright spot, which is a whopping 16 tournament reward placements :).
Top 10 Summoner Usage

---|---|---|---|
Owster Rotwell | 92 | 17.33% | 42.39% |

So what went wrong? Well, this table says it all really: I have been overusing Owster Rotwell, because the metagame up to this season was so heavy on Magic, particularly with the Back to Basics ruleset!

This time, the top of the table has familiar faces. Perhaps the RL house move and timing issues led to me making more conventional lineups? It also clearly led to me overusing the Tortision Chief, and fumbling around with a range of Black Splinter cards :).

I unfortunately missed the Brawl due to a housewarming party, but I did end up with a lot of rewards and two Top 10 finished. So overall I'm pretty happy with the outcome here :)

6 Epics and 4 gold cards. I clearly can't complain here! :D The lack of Untamed Packs do lead to lower reward levels in general it seems though?
This season went less well than I had hoped. So it is time once more to change my strategy around. I'll cook up a few new decks and will let you know next time how they will work out!
One more thing for @kiokizz: thanks again for curating the script for this & it might be nice perhaps to see win rates by splinter in these reports? Not sure if it's easy to add though :).
Thanks a lot for joining today, and I wish you a fruitful Season 53!

I definitely feel like you're playing on a whole other level than me... I hadn't even noticed there was a magic meta game and that it changed. I'm definitely going to have to pay way more attention to the cards that are doing well for me and the ones that aren't...
The meta game is very hard to figure out, and I feel it really differs per level of play. I definitely get it wrong very often, but this time around I had several Back to Basic battles where the opponent went full ranged, and a lot of other battles (especially with white) where the opponent started adding in two or even three sneak attackers! Also, I've been starting to see Lir Deepswimmer a little bit more often as of late, particularly with the high mana Kraken set up (though Byzantine Kitty is also a popular summoner with that card).
The battlechain at Peakmonsters is actually not a bad tool to do some manual analysis. Yours I suppose would be here: https://peakmonsters.com/@aussieninja/battlechain
Cheers & hope you're having a good week!

Thanks! I actually didn't realise so much detail was in the Battlechain... it is kind of amazing.
I guess in a game like Splinterlands, the meta game is a confusing one... because of the financial cost, most people can't change or adopt the meta easily... and my choice of cards is often going to be very different to you because of the cards I bought, or won or just really liked...
I guess it all comes down to trying to predict what cards your opponents will play... maybe that has to be done on an individual level... which seems crazy hard?

Hello. I'd like to have something like that as a toggle which players can choose to include.
Something like this is your mind?
I'm travelling currently, and expect I'll have some update like this out within the next 2-3 seasons.
Yes, that'd be really cool! 👍
