This is a Post to all of the “dales” out there…

So, as all of my followers and friends know, I love everything Cleveland, specifically Brown and Indians, and yes, at times.. The Cavs. In my travels on the world-wide-web, I have come upon a group of ladies that epitomize the spirit and fandom of what is Cleveland sports… This is not a post to pander, nor is it a post to get on the good side of the subjects of this post. It is in fact a promotion of what is good about the love of Cleveland sports… I don’t have a huge platform, but when I have the chance to use it for good and to use it for those that deserve it, I move on it.

There is a stigma out there that what has been known as the “Dales” crowd that believe women have no business bringing their opinion to the sports world, or that they should stick to women’s sports and leave the “men’s sports” to the guys that ”know more than they do”. I am here to tell the dales that they need to embrace the 21st century and drop their stereotypes and learn and accept that there are in fact women in this world that know as much or more than they do about the sports world, and not just one or two sports, but all sports, and the sooner they accept it, the better off we will all be.

Let me start with those women that are in the national spotlight in sports journalism. Amy Trask, Sarah Spain, Mina Kimes, Laura Rutledge, Elle Duncan, Dianna Russini, Jessica Kleinschmidt, Kristine Leahy, Erin Andrews, Katie Nolan, Kay Adams, Charissa Thompson, and many many other women that are in national sports journalism know as much IF NOT MORE about sports than any “dale” that considers them unworthy to talk about sports. There are millions of women in this country that are die-hard sports fanatics and it is time that they get the respect that they deserve. When I am searching and reading about sports, I don’t look at the name of the author or the GENDER of the author, I just look at the content that they bring, and no matter the author, I respect and am more informed than I was before I began reading or listening.

In my 53+ years in this world, I have encountered many women that know as much or more than I about sports. I have many women that I consider close personal friends of mine that know as much as I do and some that know more about sports, and that is not limited to just the NFL, but baseball, basketball, and hockey as well. I have the utmost respect for them and would never question their knowledge. My friends include Katie Marshall, Heather Lewis, Kathy Candia, Alisa Cafaro, Aimie Peterson, Janelle Pineau, Kat Thomas, Loretta McCracken-Skulls, Laurie Sloan, Debbie Wright, along with HUGE sports fans with knowledge we lost with their passing. Janice Carter Conley (MamaRam) and Rhonda Merrill. I have been blessed to know each and every one of them in my 20+ years on the internet and have found their knowledge to be on the same level as mine, some of which have better knowledge than I do, so to say women have no business talking about sports is bullshit…

All of this brings me to the most recent women that have earned my respect and fandom. I am a subscriber and fan of three women that bring the sports knowledge on a daily basis. I do not know them personally, and I have never met them, but I am one of their biggest fans, simply because they have had to put up with constant misogyny on many different social media platforms, despite the fact they are as knowledgeable as anyone I have met or watched in my life. I will only give their names as their Twitter handles because they deserve a follow by anyone interested in Cleveland sports. @BreezyCLE @BurdsIVue and @MKonSports are three talented and knowledgeable women that have the pulse of Cleveland sports, be it Browns, Indians, or Cavs… They have a weekly podcast on Spotify “That’s what B said” I suggest you follow and listen if you are into Cleveland sports, you will not be disappointed.

Thank you, ladies, I love your show, I love your opinions, and I look forward to the show each and every week. I urge you to ignore the Dales and keep on doing what you are doing. I find you funny, knowledgeable, and most of all, I find that your show brings a common “man” look at the Cleveland sports scene. What normal fans want to hear and free of the corporate BS that dictates what is broadcast to the masses. I have a weekly show as well called The Sports Nerds that has been broadcasting off and on for nearly 10 years, and I only wish I can bring my show to the level you have reached in just a few short months. Your show has inspired me to do better, and to try and reach a larger audience in the future. I say again… THANK YOU… and keep doing what you are doing…
