This week @splinterlands share your battle challenge card is Efreet Elder. I have to be honest here and say that I never used this card before. I owned some of them that I haven't combined and decided to buy some more to reach level 3.

I usually keep my most used rare cards at level 6 so I will judge him based on his stats at that same level. General stats are okay, except for that miserable attack stat for a card that costs 6 mana.

The last stand is VERY situational, it would only be useful under certain conditions that are quite rare. Since he's a magic attacker people usually place him anywhere from the second position to the last one, If you're using ranged monsters they would go behind him obviously. Given those conditions, he would only be the last one standing if and only if your opponent plays sneaky monsters that take out the backline as the rest of the enemy team shreds the front line. You would have to be very lucky for that math to end up with your Efreet being the last one standing.

The phase ability is also not that useful, all it does is give the magic attacker the chance to miss on him. the only scenario where this might be useful is if your front line falls quickly while facing a team with a lot of magical attackers with low speed.

I lost my first 3 battles while using Efreet but the fourth one was a clean sweep Battle link. It was completely unfair because my opponent was using level 1 cards but I'll take it. Let's take a look at the line-up:

Rules: Broken Arrows and Equalizer

Lord Arianthus is always a good choice for games with equalizer, having that already hard to take down tank with extra HP in front of you is a nightmare.

Elven Cutthroat, Kobolt Miner, and Battering ram are a killer combination when using Malric Inferno as your summoner. They go through the backline like it's butter, the sneaky attacker's cutdown the backline, and the battering ram usually follow since it goes for the lowest hp enemy.

Goblin Shaman is there to soften them up and slow them down enough so that they can't make a single attack before fainting. A very underrated card that has a lot more impact than people give him credit for.

Elfreet Elder is there so that the equalizer rule set gives my tank some extra HP. He was also useful to hold the assassins from getting picked up by sneaky attackers since his HP and speed stats are pretty decent even at level 3.

Even though I don't use Elfreet Elder that much I still want to get him to level 6 for the sake of having him for some unusual rule sets where he might be useful. They're quite expensive at the moment but I will slowly accumulate copies from my daily rewards. Today I received another one.
