[ENG] Steem, Steem Engine and the evolution of communities.

Carlo (@miti)

Hello everybody,

I still remember the feeling I had when I signed up for Steem in 2017: I saw a lot of authors who had stratospheric rewards posts and I could reach a few cents at most.
It was a very bad feeling that often made me think of abandoning everything. Things only got better after a few months, after I made some friends and above all thanks to my stubbornness. Nothing exciting, but it was the beginning of a splendid ride that brought me to the point that the @miti account has reached the rank of Dolphin.

A couple of weeks ago I created this account (@ miti.blog) just to get back to actively writing without going to overload my account dedicated to the curation project and in fact I started from the plankton level .. a newcomer that gets finds himself struggling with the evidence of having to draw interest back on his blog.

But things have changed a lot compared to 2017 and in my opinion for a newcomer who has the will to carry on a blog with qualitatively good content, things today have a completely different perspective. The reason?

Once again Steem Engine and above all the Tribes, which were born thanks to its implementation!

When I created the account @miti.blog I was not very convinced of the fact that I still had the desire to restart from the rank of Plankton and to have to work hard to carve out my space in the great sea of Steem, but after some article my perception the situation has completely changed.

In fact, thanks to the Tribes (Steem Engine), I began to notice that the total of my rewards in the Tribes tokens was higher than my rewards in Steem. I also wrote an article about it and if you'd like to read it you can find it here: [ENG] Steem, Steem Engine and the evolution of communities. // [ITA] Steem, Steen Engine e l'evoluzione delle community..

The reason is simple: curation works much better in the Tribes, perhaps due to the fact that the articles are focused on a certain topic. Therefore it is not difficult to receive a vote of an orca or a whale of the Tribe to which the post refers, as it is instead in Steem where it is almost impossible to be noticed by a curator with a very large wallet and whose vote can change the fate of an article.

The most alive communities from this point of view, at least for me that I write posts related to their tags, are those of SteemLeo and StemGeeks from which I received quite high marks that have rewarded my articles.
So a completely different perception than Steem where the prevailing feeling is frustration, compared to the Tribes where one feels the desire to reward worthy articles.

This shows how a generic Social is completely outdated and that the natural evolution of things is leading to a division into communities that will not fragment Steem in a destructive way but rather will take it to the next level, certainly with a better pleasure of use.

Precisely for this reason I am convinced that it is necessary to focus a lot on the Tribes, to advertise them in the best possible way, especially among the newcomers and among the minnows, in order to allow the latter to understand how there is still the possibility of entering a growing Social and to be appreciated for their abilities, freeing them from the frustration of a number, that of rewards, which too often in Steem remains anchored in discouraging values; moreover having a Social split in Tribes allows them to monitor negative behaviors such as spam, plagiarism and abuse.

I know that lately my articles often converge on Steem-Engine and on the Tribes, but I am more and more convinced that it will be the tool that will allow Steem to raise its head and evolve in a positive way, giving everyone the pleasure of using it also as a Social .. feature that attracted considerable interest in the launch of this Blockchain.
And although Steem is also much more, in my opinion the Social aspect should not be overlooked or neglected, because it is the only way to attract the masses within Steem.

The blockchain, the technical aspects and the features that make Steem unique.. let's leave them to the developers, to the common people we give a Social that works and that allows to write and read articles according to one's tastes and inclinations without having to lose oneself in a mess of thousands of other posts thrown into the fray.

Simplifying should be the watchword to attract people and Support should be the correct attitude to entice these people to participate actively in the life of the Social.

So when you invite someone to join Steem, talk to them about the Tribes right away and how they are the best way to grow and create your own nest egg in a correct and fast way and how once they create a small wallet they can be useful to others future newcomers.

A virtuous circle that will allow Steem to return to the glories of the past.

Greetings,
Carlo (@miti)

I use sportstalk and get a lot more interaction and votes from people that share the same interests as me. We had always asked for communities and while it's not what I expected it is a positive step. People wan't to find content that interests them and unfortunately steemit just has a mix of everything which makes no sense. Positive steps forward.

Of course, I totally agree with you. It is a first step but there will be many others: we are going in the right direction!
Thanks a lot for the curation, I really appreciated that.
