The Buyer

Again I was in front of the showcase of the electronics store on 42nd Street. Tomorrow Friday, I would have the great opportunity to buy the fashion gadget, everyone in my class wishes to have it.

“Me, I will not be left behind! Anyway, it will be mine, ”he thought as he watched the desired device, hypnotized.

I couldn't lose the seasonal offer. I only needed $ 5, to fulfill my dream and to open the doors of the store, around me many like me, made the line that reached the other block. I supposed that some of them would go for the same type of product.

My brother was indebted to me, he had his promise that he would make a transfer for the amount and if not, he would come to bring it to me in cash.

Time passed slowly, I was very attentive of the cell phone screen, I was waiting for the beep that would indicate the message of the bank confirmation, but nothing. I felt the urge to call my brother, he would tell me, let the impatience you know how banks work. So I abstained. I had to trust him.

The cold was intense, thankfully I took precautions and came with a coat, but short of money and a promise of payment.

I am only five minutes away, nothing the cell phone rings, without those dollars I will see my dreams fade, then it will be impossible for me to buy the gadget, depending on this Friday's offer or I will be obsolete before my friends. What I am going to do?

They opened the doors, most moves in orderly until they land on the gadget counter, I hope they have enough stock or I will run out of mine.

The cell phone rings, he is my brother, he could not transfer me, I feel a restrained anger and a hand rests on my shoulder, the tone of the voice is known:

"Brother leave the anguish, take $ 10 just in case."

My soul returned to the body and the gadget to my pocket. What do I do now with this obsolete cell phone that I bought at the beginning of the year? Nothing, I'll put it in the obsolete cell phone drawer.

In the distance, three homeless people rummaged in the garbage pots taking care not to be seen.
