Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Savers Club with Susie Saver.

What's been happening in your world this week? anything exciting or fun? Tell us in the comments 😁.

We have some exciting news this week:
Do you remember we were having trouble getting HBI to people who had posted great comments? Well, we've sorted out a solution - we've got hold of some EDS tokens for giveaways. Yay!

We wanted to use EDS right at the start - it would make sense, right, as @eddie-earner is the frontman for EDS? - but there were none available on the market. That's changed now and we were able to get hold of some. There's even five left on the market at only 1 Hive, for anyone who wants to get in and build their stake!

What's so good about EDS tokens?

I'm glad you asked, because EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There are only 20,000 and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year.

Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. Right now, this is what @eddie-earner's wallet looks like:

Saturday Saver Club.png

Under pending rewards, you can see the proceeds from last week's Saturday Savers Club post - it's earned the equivalent of roughly 15 Hive for the EDS fund. Below that you can see the total Staked Hive Tokens (Hive Power) 21,784 HP. About 21,545 of that is leased out and earning income for EDS.

You can see from these figures that each EDS token is now worth about 1.09 Hive, a nice slow steady increase - that's what we like. EDS pays out every Monday evening: last week the pay out was roughly equivalent to 14%, that's already 2% higher than the original guarantee!

Here's the lucky winners of some EDS tokens - check your Hive-Engine wallet: @justclickindiva, @metzli, @cmplxty, @erikah, @chrisparis, @bearmol, @gillianpearce, @amr008 - thank you for taking part in Saturday Savers Club!

Okay, that's enough excitement ...

We're going to be here every Saturday through the year growing a little savings honey pot, if you have plans for saving or getting to a different place this time next year - maybe $5 Hive by the end of the year πŸ€‘?

Whatever it is, stick with Susie Saver through the year and we'll get there. Along the way, we'll share lots of tips and tricks for saving and how to get the knack of making your money work for you and not the other way round.

Let's Get Started

We're using the 365 Penny A Day Challenge framework for the Saturday Savers Club. We're aiming to save Β£667 worth of pennies by the end of the year.

You can use the sheet below to track your progress:

Right click on the image, save it to your computer and then print it out.

Okay, let's check in ...

1. Check Progress

Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 13th February, was 287p. Next week, we'll be saving 336p.

Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.

Here's this week's results - 287p buys 12.643 Hive. That's less Hive than last week, because the price of Hive has increased. Low Hive price = more Hive; High Hive price = less Hive.

saturday_savers_club.png

Still growing - nearly 62 Hive in seven weeks!

How much did you save this week? Did you meet your target? Or did you save even more?

Being accountable to another person or a group is a great way to motivate yourself to save (or anything you want to achieve). Of course, you need the right kind of people around you - ones that think what you're trying to do is worth doing ... or at least fun 😁.

Sign up here with us to start your savings journey:

  • just leave a comment below if you want to join the challenge.
  • follow @eddie-earner so you never miss a post (Eddie has lots of ideas about how to make money - he's the earner, I'm the saver - you'll like his posts).
  • share this post if you think your followers might be interested.

2. The Golden Pig Tip

Every week, we're going to share a Golden Pig Tip for saving. By the time you've tried them all you'll have Β£670 saved.

This Week's Golden Pig Tip

This week's tip is:

Make your savings work for you

We're going to do just that by powering up 50 Hive to start benefiting from Hive inflation - let's see how the 50 has grown in one week. Next week, we'll be looking at other ways we can increase our savings, in addition to putting away our weekly pennies.

Have you got a favourite savings tip? Tell us in the comments.

And today is always a good day to start saving - you can start on Day 1 or make up the first seven weeks to catch up with @susie-saver.

That's it for this week. Hope you've enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you next Saturday with progress so far and our next Golden Pig tip.

If you like DIV tokens pay attention to @spinvest many projects stem from here and that is the best place to get the latest information.

I agree with @metzli, the SPI family of tokens are well worth looking at. Every one of them is 100% backed with Hive (even LBI, purchased with LEO, relies on base Hive to buy the LEO), with sound investment and growth plans. EDS is very much the baby, but a really valuable token for starter savers.

Thankyou for commenting :)

Yeah! I won some EDS tokens. Thanks a bunch. Woot! Woot!

Just rushed over to buy 5 more at 1 Hive but think someone beat me to it. πŸ˜‚

Or maybe I got the buying thing wrong. That's another possibility of course. πŸ˜‚

The 5 EDS at 1 Hive are still there, @gillianpearce:

I don't see it. I see 1 EDS at 5 Hive or 5 EDS at 10 Hive but not 5 EDS at 1 Hive. πŸ˜‚

Thank you very much for the token, but I have no idea how I earned it. I remember I've left some comments but other than that ... I don't know.

Anyway, I really appreciate the token as I know how it works, I'm an LBI holder and love it. i think these are both good initiatives and wish more people would join. Many need to learn saving as that's the future.

Keep up the good work :)

You left a comment on an early Saturday Savers Club post :) I've had trouble with the permissions on the @eddie-earner account - too many conflicting protocols, I think :D but more fun and more apt to use EDS.
It's great to have a family of options - SPI, LBI and EDS - there is something for everyone. I agree about more people investing in EDS as a savings token, we started the Savers Club to spread the word.

Well I have not been saving pennies as they did away with them up here, so I have just been getting that much hive sent in each week to cover that although this week I sent in more than 2 weeks worth. Have a great week

Hello @ericburgoyne, thank you for joining us :)
Yes, pennies are disappearing, but a great idea to buy the equivalent amount of Hive!
You have a great week, too - do you have snow? It's just cleared in the UK, although some more is forecast. I was looking at snow boots this morning hehe :D

Saving is always nice. If you let those pennies compound over time, you will can buy something nice.

I heard about EDS a few times, but have yet to look into it much. But if it provides dividends, then it looks just the right thing to get some passive income.

Hello @jfang003, thank you for joining us :)
It's amazing how a few pennies, put away consistently, can build to a big thing!
EDS is a great little token, unassuming, hard-working and gets the job done. SPI (@spinvest) and LBI (@lbi-token) are good tokens, too, and worth looking at.

Thank you for my EDS!

Will Eddie be minting new coins or are we sticking with only 20,000. (I prefer that only 20,000 exist).

Will Susie start delegating her HIVE for even bigger earnings?

My HIVE savings account @metzlisaves is pretty much dormant, have not done much more than stick a few HIVE in there, but my fiat savings account is growing along. I forget days at a time but then I see this post and make a few transfers. I am naming them Day 1, Day 2 etc.

I like watching my account grow! Thanks for the reminders.

It's a pleasure @metzli, thank you for supporting Saturday Savers Club :)

Hmm, delegating ... that would be an interesting discussion about active and passive earning. Fifty Hive might be too small for dlease, but the OCD curation initiative might be an option.

Glad the reminders are helping out - drop a link here if you do any posts :)

This is a good reminder for people able to participate and work on building up their savings.
I do something similar at home. Here in Australia, we have 2 gold coins which are $1 and $2 coins.
Every fortnight with the money I get, whenever I am getting gold coins they all go into my savings jar and builds up quickly! It is great when you have spare cash (or hive etc) to put it aside and watch it grow.

That's a great idea @thegoliath, setting aside coins day to day as you go. I guess there's an even stronger argument for saving if you haven't too much spare cash. Credit Unions are a great idea - help when you need it and you're building your savings as you pay back the loan.
Thank you for joining the comments :)
