No one can really reward me what I feel my worth to be, but it feels good to just have them to show you they value who you are.
I love this statement and couldn't agree more! I'd wanted to write on this topic and had a lot in my head about my self worth similar to all you have written here.
It's normal for most people to take others for granted, especially family. This should not be. The saying charity begins at home should hold sway here —valuing our own rather than outsiders.
I'm glad you know your worth and have come to terms with what to expect from people. It's borne out of experience!

Sometimes it's hard to believe that this is how our family acts. I have more strangers in my life that are like family then my family themselves. That's a shame.
