WhatsApp, Facebook, messenger and Instagram were down for almost 6 hours,

The social media conglomerate posted on rival platform Twitter confirming to its users that their services are offline,

These platforms offer employment to people, leissure time and most importantly connect people from all over the world.

The blackout started around 6pm in Rwanda and it didn't come back online up until midnight,

This comes at a time when Facebook is under investigation by the US authorities after a leaked internal investigation disclosed that Facebook was aware that Instagram causes harm to young teenagers's mental health and failed to act upon it.

Mark Zuckerberg really had a chaotic Monday, He lost a sizable portion of his net worth as Facebook's stock fell about 5%.

Though Facebook haven't revealed the reasons behind the blackout, I have a theory, A unnamed Facebook employee plugged off the cables and charged his phone.

I normally used Facebook mostly for sports updates but lately I have shifted to Twitter.

I hardly noticed the blackout as I had many due assignments but I think this should be done on a weekly or monthly basis, A day without social media, A reality check.

Did the blackout affect you or we should turn our full focus to hive?

Instead of just browsing through social media commenting or enjoying two strangers quarelling in Facebook comments at 2 in the morning,yes I do it and it is fun but I would rather spend my time on hive since it can give me utility.
