Making A Shoe Rack From Recycled Plywood Pallet

japandi_style_interior_instagram_post_.jpg
Dear all Hive users, this time I would like to share my work. I made a shoe rack from recycled plywood pallets. I had a broken shoe rack. The shoes were unorganized and looked dirty on the terrace of my house. My wife asked me to make a shoe rack.
Two years ago, I bought some woodworking tools, but I have not used them for a long time. This week I took the tools to make a shoe rack.

I started to cut the plywood into some parts. I searched for a simple design on Pinterest. I got one that was easy.

After I cut all the parts, I began to nail the plywood into the shoe rack. I need a 90-degree corner clamp to fix the angles. Before nailing, I also apply some glue to the surface of the wood.

A 90-degree corner clam will help you make a 90-degree angle accurately.

I also used a pressure clamp to tighten both sides of the surface of the plywood. I nailed all the joints with nails and screws.

Before painting, I used sandpaper to make the surface of the wood smoother.

After I finished assembling and smoothing, it was time to paint. My daughters helped paint the shoe rack. They looked to be enjoying the work.

I did a little touch to finish. I accomplished my project today with the help of my daughters.
Here is the look of the shoe rack from the recycled plywood pallet.

Now, the shoes and sandals look neat on the shoe rack. I created three tiers of the shoe rack. It can store more shoes than I had before.

Thanks, I had a green paint but my daughter did not want the green color. So I painted it black. My wife has asked me to make a small closet. I hope I could make it in the near future.

Thanks, the design is simple so I can make it. There are many models of shoe rack but I think the design that I chose match with the materials that I have.

I definitely need that shoe rack. To organize my shoes and slippers. Thank you for sharing your work! Very sustainable!

(Edited)

You can try with recyled wooden material in your home. It is simple actually. The most difficult part is when you join the angles so they should be fixed. That is why I need 90-degree clamp.

What an excellent use of materials my friend! Not only are you ensured to have a sturdy and strong shoe rack, but you are also minimizing waste that otherwise would add to the trash in your community. If more people would do this, less plastic would be used as most shoe racks are made from plastic material.

Thanks for dropping, fortunately, recycled plywood is available in a second hand plywood store near my house. The price is also cheap. The plywood that I used was around 2 cm think. I think the durability of the shoe rack is better than the plastic one.
